Welcome Home, Rue Girl!!

That's the sweet face The Hubbs and I get to see every morning when we wake up and every night before we go to sleep. That precious little grin belongs to our very own Rue Girl!!

...Background on Rue...

The Hubbs' first hunting dog, Ace, had a litter of lab pups back in 2005. The runt of that litter was Our Sweet Rue Girl. She got her perfectly poised name from my mother-in-law, who would call Rue her "Little Runt-A-Rue" and the name stuck.

Now that we are settled into Our Sweet Home South, it was time to bring our Rue Girl home!! She has most definitely made Our Sweet Home South her home, too!! We stocked our home with her very own comfy & stylish pad, lots of squeaky toys {a.k.a Rue's Babies}, Puperoni's {a.k.a. yummy savory treats} and never-ending love!!

I never knew how much company and companionship a pup would be, until we Welcomed Rue Home!! She is my little shadow by following me every step I take. The next best thing about having Rue Girl is she is completely house-trained. No early mornings or stepping in uh-oohs at 2:00am!!

Our life would not be the same without Rue Girl!! Theh and i have even thought, "Well, what would it be like without her?" Our Sweet Home South is now complete, and y'all better expect a Family Christmas Card coming your way this Holiday Season!!

thanks for a happy housewarming

Well Sweets, Thanksgiving is literally at the back door and ready to stuff us with turkey, dressing and {my fav} mashed taters!! However, we sometimes forget the true meaning of Thanksgiving because it is a time for thanks and a time for giving.

Tonight, I would like to give thanks to one of my sweetest friends, Brookie!! She made this adorable and oh so personal hand-made, burlap pillow with The Hubbs and my signature nickname for our humble little home and yours truly blog title. Now, y'all tell me that is somethin' and someone to be thankful for today!!

Brookie gave us this presh pillow for our housewarming gift, and it is proudly displayed in our living room for everyone to see!!

I love you oh so much Brookie!! Your thoughtfulness, kind spirit and the little-things-are-what-makes-a-difference mindset makes our friendship that much more special. You are truly a one-of-a-kind girl-fran that I could not live without!!

Give someone thanks this Holiday Season, y'all!!

First Homemade Dinner {Our Sweet Home South}

I

Two weeks ago, The Hubbs and I had Our First Homemade Dinner in Our Sweet Home South. It was absolutely delish and felt great to have a hot homemade meal that was well deserved and much needed. After all of our hardwork, we sure did work up an appetite for homemade turkey meatballs and angel hair pasta with feta spaghetti squash accompanied by a crisp white table wine from Post Familie Winery.

Rachel Ray's Homemade Turkey Meatballs

Whatcha Need

1 1/2 cups seasoned bread crumbs

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 large egg

1/2 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley

1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper

2 pounds ground turkey

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

2 cups chicken broth

What To Do

- In a medium bowl, mix together 1/2 cup bread crumbs, the onion, egg, parsley, parmesan and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper

- Add the turkey and mix until combined. Place the remaining bread crumbs in a shallow bowl. Roll the meat mixture into eighteen 1 1/2-inch balls, then roll in the bread crumb mixture to coat

- In a large nonstick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat

- Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned, about 8 minutes

- Lower the heat to medium-low; add 1/2 cup chicken broth and cook until the liquid is absorbed

- Add the remaining chicken broth in 1/4-cup increments until the meatballs are cooked through and all the broth has been absorbed, about 20 minutes.

Enjoy Sweets!!

There you go, Sweets!! Our Sweet Home South is basically finito, but we still have little to-do's here and there...organizing the office (hints why you did not see a picture..haha), hanging curtains in the Master Bedroom, finish the aesthetics of our dresser-turned-kitchen island, and a couple of other non-major must-haves.

Thanks for stopping by!! Now that we are settled and getting into our new routine as homeowners, I promise blogging will pick-up!!

Have a lovely week, Sweets!!
