mini faye vacay

the hubbs and i drove to fayetteville for a lovely two-night stay!! we felt so spoiled because fayetteville is usually a treat for us to vacation to only on one, maybe two {if we are lucky), game weekends in the fall. now that we are soo close to faye, only about a 2 1/2 hour drive, we were able to go and help out my in-laws with the house. we did a much-needed cleaning around the house, and then we dilly-dallied around town.

this picture of razorback stadium got the hubbs and i geard up for football season!! only 102 days away!! war damn & woo pig y'all!!

of course, we made a stop at slim chickens sunday night, but my first must-have stop was monday morning for my guilty pleasure, a common grounds iced coffee. seriously y'all, this delicious drink is to-die-for!! honestly, I dream about their iced coffees. needless to say, I had to get one to-go before we left faye today..haha.. now, that's what you call an addiction!!

since we always have a set plan for game weekends, the hubbs showed me parts of the surrounding area that I have never seen. we drove up to beaver lake, which reminds me of camp bernie on my sweet lake martin. beaver lake was gorgeous!! it got us pumped for summer weekends at moon lake and camp bernie!!

last night we made our first stop on dickson street at hog haus. we enjoyed a couple cold fat boy blues on the outside patio. the weather was perfect for an outdoor seating at dinner so we headed to wasabi for sushi on the patio and people watching.

before we left today, we dined at hammontree's grilled cheese. one word.. YUM!! our sweet friends, drew & dawn, told us it was a must. their advice surely did not disappoint!! i got the brie's company. soo good!!

y'all know I love the lovely plains at my sweet alma mater, auburn, but faye is one-of-a-kind. it is just a little funky, southern hill town. it is always a good time when we get to go and say hey to faye. now that we are back in our sweet home south, we will be doing a lot more visiting to the hubbs old stomping grounds!!

till next time faye!!

making a house a home

the u-haul truck has been returned. the extra boxes full of everything-that-can't-fit has been moved to moonlake. our little rock life now begins. the hubbs and i are getting settled, but it was not until today that we both felt our apartment was now our home.

as the saying goes, making a house a home, means in morris terms hanging pictures on the wall that illustrates our life and makes it feel comfy and cozy as we live our life.

enjoy these before and after pictures!! note, we still have a couple of more items to put in their perfect place!!

moving day

hey sweets!! believe me, we have not forgotten about y'all!! we have been getting ready for the big move down south these past couple of weeks. so my apologies for just now posting on sweet home south.

you never truly know how you will react until the situation arises. for me, this could be no farther from the truth. this past week has been filled with hard work, full enjoyment, sweat and tears.

the hubbs and I have checked off our last to-do's in chi. we had our last hoorah crawfish boil with all of our friends at 737. we dined at our fav restaurant {Topo Gigio} and had our last dinner at our first date spot, dee's. we walked the entire city from taking my door pictures throughout lincoln park to phtotgraphing our annual chicago sign pict to sitting at our spot on lakeshore taking in the breathtaking views of the city. we also did an architectural tour, visited my amazing god-father and the fam in st. charles, shared funny stories with friends over last chance hugs and until next time dinners of rustic house rotisserie chicken and pizza.

it wasn't until one hour before we left our sweet home chicago that i broke down. after the madness of our movers taking every last bit of our Chicago life and cramming it in our u-haul, the hubbs and I looked around and the emotions came flooding out of us. not just because the life and character of our first home was now just some other couple's new apartment, but the move had become real. like for real. moving day was here and there was no turning back. it was time to leave our first home. wave good-bye to a skyline where we witnessed many late afternoon sunsets and early morning sunrises.

now, we have the memories. every last memory. from the day we each moved to Chicago to where we met to where we got engaged to where we got married to where we enjoyed our first year as mr. & mrs.!! in between all of those precious memories are all of the good times and memories we made with our amazing friends. yet so cliche, the saying "you don't know who you're true friends are until {fill in the blank}.." is so true. we didn't know who our true friends were until it came to moving to a city where everyone's a stranger. then you get to hand-pick your friends and those, yes those absolutely amazing people, become your true friends.

if you are reading this as one of our many cherished friends, we are blessed to have your love and support during our time in chi and for helping us make so many everlasting memories.

thank you from the bottom of our hearts for entering our life and making Chicago so much more than just a city to live but a city that we called home.
